Manta Bridge: Why a Transfer Is Stuck

If you use manta bridge and funds do not appear on the destination chain, identify the transfer stage before submitting anything again. The bridge connects Ethereum Mainnet and Manta Pacific Mainnet, and deposits and withdrawals follow different paths.

Why a Manta Bridge transfer may still be pending

A bridge transfer is a sequence of on-chain messages, not an instant swap. A source transaction can be confirmed while its destination-side action is still queued.

For an Ethereum-to-Manta Pacific deposit, approve the ERC-20 allowance if required, submit the deposit on Ethereum, then wait for the message to credit Manta Pacific. ETH deposits do not need ERC-20 approval.

For a Manta Pacific-to-Ethereum withdrawal, first initiate it on Manta Pacific. Then wait until it is ready to prove, submit that proof on Ethereum, wait through the challenge period, and complete, relay, or finalize the withdrawal on Ethereum.

The transaction hash is the key evidence. A wallet balance or bridge spinner is only an interface view; a blockchain explorer shows whether the transaction was mined, reverted, pending, or never submitted.

What to check before retrying

If the source transaction reverted, the bridge did not receive a valid request. Correct the cause and try again.

If it is pending, wait for source-network finalization and check the explorer. Sending another transaction can create confusion or a duplicate transfer.

If it is confirmed, the funds may still be moving through the bridge process. Check bridge history for a required next action, such as prove, finalize, or relay.

If a deposit is confirmed but Manta Pacific shows zero, ensure the wallet is viewing Manta Pacific Mainnet rather than Ethereum. Then check the destination balance and bridge history using the same address.

A pending approval is not a deposit. Wait for the ERC-20 approval to confirm before submitting the bridge transaction.

For withdrawals, keep the withdrawal hash and monitor its status. When it is ready to prove, switch to Ethereum Mainnet and submit the separate proof transaction with enough ETH for gas. Once the challenge period ends, return to bridge history: a final completion action may still be required.

If the transfer shows completed but the balance is missing, verify the recipient address, selected network, and asset contract. The token may exist at the address without appearing in the wallet’s default asset list.

The native route is usually clearest for a transfer already in progress. An alternate bridge is a separate choice for new funds; it cannot repair a transfer sent to a wrong address, network, or unsupported asset.

Confirm the domain, networks, asset, and amount before signing. Keep ETH for source and destination gas. Never share a seed phrase or private key with bridge support, and ignore urgent “recovery” payments or unrelated signatures.
